REIKI
WHAT IS REIKI?
The word REIKI (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word for universal life-force energy.
When the flow of the "Life-Force Energy" is disrupted, weakened or blocked, emotional or health problems tend to occur.
REIKI is a holistic healing modality which balances and increases the energy flow of KI (life source energy) throughout the system. This simple, non-invasive healing system works with the person’s Higher Self to allow the well being of the entire physical and emotional body (the connection to life source energy).
This energy is directed through the Practitioner's hands either directly on or just above the body. The Practitioner acts as a gathering point and focus of the KI, which is present in all things, and allows for the flow of energy through their body. The client's own body only draws off the amount of energy that is required. The simplicity of a Reiki session may raise some skepticism; however, after experiencing it, many clients keep coming back for more of those relaxing feelings.

WHAT REIKI OFFERS
Reiki can assist the body in an excellent way by accelerating healing from many physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual issues. It
- Provides a sense of deep relaxation, aiding the body in releasing stress and tension
- Accelerates the body's self-healing abilities

- Amplifies the body’s ability to relieve pain
- Clears energy blockages, adjusting the energy flow of the endocrine system to bring the body into balance and harmony

- Increases vitality and postpones the aging process
- Helps spiritual growth and emotional clearing
WHAT TO EXPECT
Reiki is not massage. There is no manipulation of the skin or tissue. The fully clothed client lies on the treatment table. The practitioner's hands remain in a stationary position, lightly touching or slightly above the body (depending on the client's preference) through several REIKI positions. The private areas are worked on 4-6" above the body.
Although the Practitioner draws and focuses the energy for the client, the client's body must be willing to accept and use the energy. During the session, the client is encouraged to relax, focus on breathing and/or practice meditation. The Practitioner can assist with a variety of meditation techniques to aid in the energy transfer and balancing. As Buddha said, "With our thoughts we shape our reality." And so, visualization, meditation and positive outlook on the part of the client all aid the Reiki session, increasing its effectiveness and results.
AFTER REIKI SESSIONS
Findings of any Reiki session vary between clients. Clients report feeling:
- more creative
- more balanced
- less emotional
- less stressed
- more relaxed
- more vital
- more aware
REIKI Practitioners do not diagnose, prescribe or treat for specific conditions. REIKI should not be used as a substitute for necessary medical treatment. They treat the whole person, often working together with other medical and complimentary therapies to achieve the best results for the client.
